It happened on Abbey Road in the early hours of Wednesday.
Crews received several calls just after 1.30am this morning (Wednesday 7th August) reporting a fire in a shop.
Two Fire Engines and an Aerial Ladder Platform from Torquay and a Fire Engine from Paignton were sent to the scene and found the shop well alight.
Crews say the shop was severely damaged by fire and there was smoke damage to the 1st and 2nd floor accommodation.
In a post on Facebook, Torquay Fire Station said: "Fortunately we were able to knock the fire back quickly, stopping the fire spreading to the flats above and the 2 shops/flats either side. This could of been a different story if not for the quick response from the local crews."
