Owner hurt too
A man and dog have been rescued from a lagoon at a North Devon quarry.
The Labrador had fallen onto a ledge at Plaistow Quarry, Muddiford, to the north of Barnstaple around 11am on Sunday morning [16 May], necessitating a call to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
The owner had gone down onto the ledge to try to rescue the dog at the water level of the lagoon. A specialist rescue team used a small inflatable boat to reach both man and dog, taking them both on board and to safety.
The man had sustained a minor injury whilst trying to rescue his dog and was advised to go to hospital for treatment.
