Local residents recognised in New Year Honours

The Mayor of Crediton has received an MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours List.

Frank Letch, who's 70 and has no arms, is being recognised for his work helping others with disabilities.

He became involved with the children's charity REACH nearly 30 years ago, and has also worked to improve access for disabled people in his local community.

He was also an ambassador for the Jubilee Sailing Trust and helped raise the funding for one of its tall ships - in which disabled people are taken out on the water.

Among the other people honoured locally is the co-founder of the Children's Hospice South West, Eddie Farwell, and the former Chief Executive of the Northern Devon NHS Trust, which runs community hospitals in the Exeter and East Devon area, Jak Kelly - both have been awarded MBEs.
