A man has been Tasered after an incident in Exeter city centre in the early hours of this morning. The Guildhall shopping centre was in lockdown for a while - but is now back to normal.
The alarm was raised at about 1.15 am when police were called to reports of a man behaving strangely, and possibly having a weapon on him, near the King William Street car park.
A suspect was later found in the Guildhall shopping centre near the High Street entrance and at about 3.30am a Taser was used to immobilise him - he was then taken to hospital and police continued to search for a weapon.
They initially secured the whole site but were gradually able to scale it down to a small cordoned-off area, allowing nearly all the surrounding shops to open.
The operation was completed by late this morning.
