Motorists across Devon are facing major delays on the M5 and A38 today because of a combination of summer holiday traffic and a serious accident.
A lorry has collided with the central reservation between Junction 28 for Cullompton and 29 for Exeter on the M5 around lunchtime this Friday.
The crash has resulted in long delays and a lane closure in both directions with emergency services on the scene.
Drivers have described traffic as “at a standstill” in multiple locations, with gridlock reported on the M5 northbound between Exeter and Cullompton.
Congestion has been building at the Sandygate Roundabout, where high volumes of traffic have led to further delays.
