Police were called to a house in Danes Road just after 9pm last night.
The homeowner disturbed an intruder in his house who made off on foot.
PC Darryl Drew and his dog Murphy were called to the house and a man was found a man in the kitchen of a nearby property.
Police are holding a man in his late 30's.
