Exeter crews broke down door
A man's been rescued from a flat in central Exeter on Christmas Day after fire broke out towards the end of the day.
Emergency services were called to Haven Road just before 10 p.m. The man said he wasn't able to get out of the property in Haven Road.
The operator at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service's control gave him survival guidance advice until the crews got there - and could then hear firefighters breaking down the door while they were still on the phone.
This fire was in the ground floor kitchen and involved textiles. Crews from central Exeter' s base, Danes Castle, and Middlemoor used breathing apparatus during the rescue.
Details haven't been revealed about how the fire started.
