A man is in a critical condition, following a crash near Exeter last night.
It involved a Ford Fiesta and a Seat Leon on the B3052 Farringdon junction at Sanctuary Lane, near to the White Horse pub at around 10.15pm.
When fire crews arrived, one person was free and clear from the vehicle, but a man had to be released using specialist equipment.
He has since been transferred to Derriford Hospital.
The road was closed overnight while police investigation work took place, but reopened just before 7am.
In a statement, police added: "The Seat driver, a woman in her 40’s from Sidmouth sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
"Officers from the Alliance’s Roads Policing Team attended the scene and work continues in establishing the cause of this collision.
"Police are appealing for any witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, or any dashcam footage that could aid with the investigation.
"We are particularly interested in locating and speaking to the driver and occupants of a white family style hatchback car that may have been on the B3052 or B3184 at or around the time of the collision, and may have seen the vehicles involved in the collision."
