Police were called to the RD & E at the weekend after reports that a man had entered the hospital with a sword.
Armed units carried out a search of the grounds late on Saturday night and found a man to be in possession of an imitation sword which was seized.
Police released the man who posed no risk or threat and he is now in the hands of medical professionals.
