The number of vacant shops in Exeter city centre remains well below the national average.
The British Retail Consortium said the national vacancy rate was just over 11 per cent in July.
In Exeter just seven point four per cent of retail units are currently standing empty.
But the warm weather, which has boosted sales in many cities, hasn't had that effect in Exeter - as many shoppers deserted the high street for the beach and moorland during the best of the summer.
