A specialist ambulance hub for dealing with major incidents looks set to be built at Exeter's new Skypark business centre.
As well as providing a conventional ambulance base for the new town of Cranbrook, it will be home to a Hazardous Area Response Team.
They deal with emergencies such as accidents with multiple casualties, people trapped in collapsed buildings, flooding and hazardous materials incidents.
If a planning application is approved by East Devon district council, the new base could be ready next year.
