An initiative being launched later today could help reduce rough sleeping and homelessness among young people in Exeter.
The youth wing of the city's Green Party has drawn up a charter calling on the city council to make sure new housing developments include affordable homes for rent.
The charter also says young homeless people should be offered stable accommodation before they've overcome problems of drug or alcohol addiction.
Pilot projects in other cities have shown that having a secure roof over their head is often the first step towards tackling these other problems.
The Renters Charter will be launched at Exeter University at 7.00 this evening by the deputy leader of the Green party, Amelia Womack.
