Three and a half million pounds is being invested in an education centre in Exeter by Devon County Council.
A new building in Sowton will cater for children who have been expelled, who are at the risk of exclusion or who have serious health problems, replacing facilities at St. Luke's Campus and near St. James' Park.
The development will accommodate general classrooms and a range of specialist areas including IT, science, catering, construction and vehicle maintenance.
Local county councillor and Cabinet member for Exeter, Andrew Leadbetter, praised the project, saying, "this is one more example of Devon County Council’s investment in the city". He added, "the Falcon Road unit is ideally situated to allow the students the opportunity of off-site work experience and training at the many businesses operating on Sowton.”
The facility on Falcon Road will primarily support secondary school students, but a small number of primary aged children will be catered for.
It's due to open after Christmas.
