Former Stagecoach building to be demolished
With Exeter University booming, 558 students will be moving into new city centre accommodation once Stagecoach's offices on Belgrave Road, opposite the bus station are pulled down and replaced with new flats.
A nearby nightclub has objected to the plans. They're worried that the students will complain about the noise. But the club wasn't successful in changing planners' minds. Exeter City Council gave the go-ahead for the new block when they met on Monday evening.
Two other controversial developments didn't get the go-ahead. Decisions on Exeter College's idea to build 100 houses on a field at Countess Wear and a new office building at the area formerly known as the Topsham Gap were deferred.
