Devon's NHS has responded to criticisms of its services for teenagers with eating disorders, after two mothers from Exeter, whose daughters had suffered anorexia nervosa, raised their concerns earlier this week.
They said they'd had trouble accessing treatment and they felt there was a lack of support for sufferers' families.
The NHS says its work with the provider of the service for treating mental health issues including eating disorders ....... has recently resulted in 650 thousand pounds of extra funding, and the money's been used to provide more frontline staff working with young people.
The service has also appointed a lead child psychiatrist who is continuously driving further improvements.. and the NHS says it's working with parents and the young people themselves to develop a more effective care pathway for these patients.
