Exeter could be among the next locations where bars and nightclubs breath-test revellers to check whether they're drunk when they arrive.
It follows a month-long pilot in Torquay which resulted in hundreds of people being refused entry and a 40 per cent fall in violent alcohol-fuelled crime in the trial area.
It was funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner's office - which has confirmed that Exeter is now being considered as one of the next areas to roll it out.
