No shortage of primary school places locally

National shortages of primary school places won't be reflected in the Exeter area, according to Devon county council.

This week the Local Government Association warned that in some areas of the country there'd be two pupils for each available place.

But here, the county council announced a 2.6 million pound programme in May, to expand schools in areas with rising pupil numbers.

Work will be carried out at primaries in Exminster, Cullompton, Ide and Withycombe in Exmouth - and the council says while there is some pressure for places, schools will be well prepared to deal with it.
