Phear Park landmark sets on fire in early hours of Sunday
The fire service has tied a yellow ribbon around an old oak tree after it set on fire in Phear Park, Exmouth in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It's actually a lengthy piece of tape saying: "Danger; Keep Out" - designed to stop children playing on the remains of the tree that had been a feature of the park since it came down nearly nine years ago.
Just after midnight on Sunday, the fire service was called to the burning tree. They called for a second appliance, with 4 by 4 capabilities. The blaze was put out with high pressure foam; and parts cut away with hand tools to prevent the fire spreading.
The fire service hasn't said what cause the fire.
