An on-the-run Honiton man has been found guilty of aggravated burglary and trespassing with a firearm.

24-year-old Maxwell Wilson was sent to prison for 14 years at Exeter Crown Court in his absence.

It follows an incident in January, when two men broke into a house in Honiton wearing balaclavas, armed with handguns.

Police have made a new appeal to find Wilson who's described as white, 5’11” in height, of average build, with blue eyes and dark brown short hair. He has a soft West Country accent.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Jim Tarr, said, "This has been an extremely traumatic experience for the victims, the Taylor Family. The brave actions of the son of the house undoubtedly led to bringing the offender to justice. The family are however a little disappointed as the defendant Max Wilson escaped lawful custody in Taunton in February 2012, and therefore justice has not been seen to be done.”

Anyone who sees the man is asked to call 999 immediately, and not to make an approach.
