Power loss off Exmouth
A fishing trip off Exmouth on Friday night ended dramatically for three people in a boat when their engine packed up.
Called by the coastguard just after 9pm, Exmouth's inshore lifeboat took just six minutes to reach the distressed vessel that was drifting out of control near Straight Point.
There was no damage to the boat and no-one on board required medical assistance. They were towed to the safety of Shelly Beach, Exmouth.
Lifeboat crew helm Henry Mock said: "We acted on a report of a private fishing vessel whose three occupants, despite their best efforts, were unable to restart their engine and regain power. The boat was at risk of drifting out of control. Myself and my crew were able to reach the boat very quickly where we fixed a tow and assisted the vessel back to safety.”
