Bovine swimmer rescued
Bullocks. They're not designed for swimming.
Nor are pools in Torbay content with bullocks in the water.
But that's what happened on Thursday night when one young male bovine quadruped was pulled out of a swimming pool.
He was moooved back onto dry land in a harness.
The moment was captured by the crack team from Buckfastleigh Fire Station.
Writing on Facebook, they say "one of their members joined colleagues from Torquay Fire Station, Paignton Fire Station and a specialist rescue team from Exmouth Fire Station to help remove a young bullock who had decided to leave his field in favour [of] a late night swim in a nearby swimming pool.
"Teams used specialist harnesses and lifting slings along with a telehandler to carefully lift him to a place of safety, a vet was also on hand to check the animals welfare throughout."
Although it's April's Fool's Day, this is, we're assured by reliable news sources, no bull. The incident took place on 31 March around 10.30 p.m.
