Police need witnesses
A pensioner has serious injuries after being knocked down by a car in Torquay.
Emergency services were called to Hele Road in the town at about 5.20 p.m. on Bank Holiday Monday after a Renault Clio, driven by a local man in his twenties had collided with the woman, a pedestrian in her 70s, outside the Conservative Club.
She was taken to hospital in Torquay. The driver of the car was uninjured and the road was closed for five hours while police investigated.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information or dashcam footage that could help with enquiries, is asked to call police on 101 quoting 0533 of 2 January.
