Lines reopened, but delays expected until 2pm
The incident happened between Starcross and Powderham at around 1000 this morning.
British Transport Police said in a statement: "Shortly after 10.00am today (17/1) British Transport Police were called to the track close to Starcross train station following reports that a person had been hit by a train.
Paramedics also attended, but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.'
The line has now reopened, but delays are expected until 1400.
