It happened just after 5pm yesterday (Monday)
British Transport Police have confirmed a 60 year old man has died after being hit by a train near Exeter.
In a statement, they said: ‘Officers were called to the lines in Exeter at 5.04pm last night (05/08) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
‘Paramedics also attended but sadly a 60-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
‘The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.’
The line was closed until 7.30pm, leaving many commuters at Exeter St David's facing delays.
