A person has been taken to hospital following a house fire in Paignton.
The Devon and Somerset Fire Service were called to the blaze near the towns seafront at half past 10 on Tuesday evening to reports of a property fire.
Two fire engines from Paignton and one from Torquay were initially sent to the location but the fire service said, smoke and flames issuing from the roof space of the property and requested further assistance of a 4th fire engine and the aerial ladder platform, which both came from Torquay.
One person was treated on scene by paramedics and then taken to hospital, suffering with smoke inhalation.
The fire was extinguished using 6 breathing apparatus wearers, 3 hose reel jets, 4 safety jets, 4 covering jets, aerial ladder platform, positive pressure ventilation fans, gas monitors and thermal imaging cameras.
The initial property sustained approx 50% by fire and smoke and 20% by water. The second property sustained approx 40% fire damage and 20% water.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
