Devon and Cornwall police have signed a legal agreement to work more closely with the Dorset force.
They'll be sharing services and working more closely - which they say will enable them to save at least 12 million pounds.
That money will be used to offset the effects of continuing Government funding cuts. However they're stressing that they're not merging.
