Two police officers have been taken to hospital – after their car was involved in a crash in Newton Abbot this morning [6 March].
Pictures show it collided with a black people carrier on East Street at around 9.30am, while another car was also reportedly damaged.
In a statement, police said the officers were taken to hospital to be checked over as a precaution, while “the occupants of the other vehicles were checked over by ambulance at the scene for minor injuries.”
The fire service added: “Initial reports were that there was nobody trapped but further calls confirmed that there was someone still inside one of the vehicles, unable to get out.
“On arrival crews confirmed that the person was medically, not physically trapped, and worked alongside Ambulance paramedics to free the casualty, using hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate them.
“They were then transported to hospital via road ambulance. Crews made the vehicle and scene safe before leaving duty of care with the Police.”
