Police are urging business landlords to check out potential tenants carefully ... after a rented Exmouth warehouse was turned into a massive cannabis factory without the owner's knowledge.
The tenants of the building in Withycombe claimed to be a catering and marquee hire firm.. and paid their rent in cash up front.
But when police raided the building they found a professional cannabis growing operation with special lights and irrigation equipment... producing drugs worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Officers are advising landlords of business premises to check the credentials of potential tenants, particularly if they pay cash up front every month.
