Work by Devon and Somerset Trading Standards to crack down on rogue traders and prevent the public from falling victim to conmen has been shortlisted for an award.
The Local Government Chronicle has recognised the initiatives carried out by the service and various partner organisations.
Trading Standards have brought successful convictions against several offenders, many of whom prey on elderly or vulnerable victims.
They've also worked hard to raise awareness of doorstep criminals and bogus traders, liaising with organisations including Age UK and the police.
Another part of the operation involves promoting reputable local traders through the Buy With Confidence scheme.
The service is nominated for awards in the categories of Tackling Fraud and Public Partnerships.
