Three men have been jailed for a total of 21 and a half years at Exeter Crown Court today after being found guilty of 54 burglaries across Devon and Somerset.
They included raids at seven jewellery shops including one in Budleigh, and dozens of break-ins at other commercial premises, often targeting the safe.
The ringleader of the gang, from Taunton, was sentenced to eight and a half years imprisonment, while two men from Plymouth were jailed for six and a half years.
The total value of items stolen surpassed 181 thousand pounds - and more than 57 thousand pounds worth of criminal damage was caused in the process.
