A demonstration against national planning policies which leave the countryside vulnerable to development takes place in Feniton this morning.
Three companies want to build a total of 235 homes in the village and are currently appealing against the refusal of planning permission.
The case is being seen as representative of the struggle facing many rural communities.
Protesters from Feniton and across East Devon are marching through the village - the local MP Neil Parish is joining the demonstration and has supported the campaigners at the public inquiry into the proposals.
