Rare dormice have been found living in woodland in east Devon. The district council's countryside rangers had installed new nesting boxes for them in Holyford Woods near Seaton during the spring and have been monitoring them regularly.
They've now reported that four dormice are living in the boxes and two of them are young, indicating that the mice are breeding.
Dormice are a protected species and it's illegal to disturb them.
