Exeter's RD&E hospital is taking part in a study aimed at reducing the unnecessary admissions to wards of people who come to Accident and Emergency.
It's part of a ten million pound health research project across the south west, covering several issues.
Researchers in the hospital admissions project are aware of several non-medical variables in the system - including the day of the week and the season of the year.
