Experts from the Royal Navy had to be called in
Residents in Plympton were evacuated from from their homes after a gun shell was found.
The alarm was raised at around 12:20pm after the object was discovered in Grantham Close.
Roads in the area were closed whilst the Royal Navy's explosive ordnance disposal team inspected the item and deemed it safe.
The closures have since been lifted and residents have since been able to return home.
