Emergency services thank Plymouth residents
An unexploded 250kg World War Two bomb found in Plymouth was successfully rendered safe on Friday morning.
Royal Navy and Army unexploded ordance specialists worked tirelessly to ensure the controlled detonation was safe for the public.
Police and local authorities have thanked organisations and volunteers that supported the thousads of businesses and residents affected by the 400-metre cordon around the device.
More than 12-hundred househoulds were asked to evacuate and residents were able to receive help at a City Council assistance centre at the Southway youth and community centre.
Following the controlled detonation, teams carried out a safety assessment of the area to enable residents to return home as soon as possible.
