Reward offered after Ilfracombe shooting

£3k for information after innocent man shot and injured

Crimestoppers is offering up to £3,000 after a man was shot multiple times in the stomach, chest and hand.

He needed emergency surgery to remove pellets after the incident in the early hours of Sunday 30th September.

The 40 year old man, was walking along the High Street at around 2.30am between the junction of Oxford Grove and Spring Road, when he became aware that he was being shot at by someone with an air rifle. It’s believed the rifle was being fired from somewhere in the vicinity of the flats above a café or pound shop.

There were no witnesses.

Dave Hunter, Head of Operations at the charity Crimestoppers, said: “We believe everyone has the right to feel safe from crime, whether in their home, place of work or whilst walking in the street. To have someone shot at in the middle of the High Street is extremely worrying and dangerous. Whilst the victim sustained potentially life-threatening injuries, the consequences could have been so much worse.

“Whoever did this has the potential to strike again in the future. We need to prevent any further danger to the community and are therefore putting up a reward to encourage anyone who knows who was involved, to come forward.
