Exmouth RNLI have taken delivery of the launch and recovery vehicle for their brand new Shannon class lifeboat, due to arrive later this spring.
Members of the crew are now being trained to drive the vehicle and maintain it.
The national RNLI asked the Exmouth branch to raise 150 thousand pounds towards the total £1.2 million cost of the vehicle - it's now just 24 thousand pounds away from the target figure.
The branch is hoping to reach that target by early May when the new lifeboat will be in operation.
