Part of Cullompton High Street is closed because of concerns about an unsafe building.
Further cracks appear to have developed in the Manor House Hotel, which was already in need of extensive repair work.
The district council says a structural engineer will examine the building - and in the meantime Tiverton Road and part of the High Street will remain closed for public safety reasons.
