Among the local people recognised in the Queen's Birthday honours list is 81 year old Ron Crabb from Exeter.
He's been the Mace Sergeant at the City's Guildhall for 18 years. Before that he was was a Royal Marine and a prison officer.
In the 1970s Ron was also a football league referee, taking charge of top first division games.
He's been awarded the British Empire Medal, which has just been re-instated by Prime Minister David Cameron.
