The prospect of Devon's rural communities losing their individual identities is being discussed at a conference near Exeter today.
The event, organised by the Community Council of Devon, will also cover issues such as rural crime, employment and housing.
But one of the concerns being raised is the loss of the social and cultural history villages have built up, when young people move away and older residents are replaced by incomers.
The Community Council wants to highlight its work which includes supporting the provision of low-cost housing in rural areas, so that people don't have to move away.
