Devon County Council have been asked to look into whether Jimmy Savile abused children at Colleton Lodge in Exeter.
The children's home closed in 1986 and the building has since been converted into flats.
Nationally twenty children's homes and schools are being investigated and Education Secretary, Michael Gove, is calling for an inquiry.
Allegations dating back to the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s have been handed to the Department for Education, after a review of documents by the Metropolitan Police.
Anyone with any information relating to the allegations surrounding Colleton Lodge is asked to phone 0345 155 1071.
