Scheme to reduce traffic jams launched

A scheme using cutting-edge research and technology to reduce traffic congestion is to be tried out in Exeter - at no cost to the taxpayer.

The city's been chosen by a global IT provider, NTT Data, to pioneer the project, working with the city and county councils.

It'll initially focus on the A 376 Exmouth to Exeter route.

The county councillor for transport and growth, Andrew Leadbetter, says they'll be using information on traffic movements and congestion already gathered by the two local authorities.
