The Environment Agency has issued a severe flood warning for the coastal area from Exmouth to Lyme Regis, and Dawlish Warren.
Residents are being told to expect flooding of properties near the coast, and to co-operate with the emergency services if they order evacuations.
Many parts of the country will be battered by storms as high winds and heavy rain move in tonight.
Locally, Exeter City Council are providing sand bags for Topsham residents at Matthews Hall Car Park, and East Devon District Council say they're preparing for expected flooding. Devon County Council warn residents to stay away from the sea front on effected coasts.
