An investigation's underway after sewage spilled out on to the beach at Sandy Bay in Exmouth.
It happened on Sunday after heavy rain caused dilute sewage to leak from the sewer system at the Devon Cliffs Holiday Park, and the waste then entered the surface water drainage system which discharges on to the beach.
The beach was closed temporarily for a clean-up.
South West Water, who own the pumping station which the sewers drain into, and the holiday park company who own the sewers, are looking into the incident.
The water company say there was no problem with the pumping station.
