Shaldon knifepoint robbery

Police want to speak to anyone who saw what happened at the gift shop.

The robbery happened at a shop in Ness Drive around 5.30pm last Friday 17th August.

A man arrived on a bicycle, before covering his face and threatening staff members with a knife. He demanded cash and staff handed over around £400 from the till.

He then cycled off. No-one was injured in the robbery but staff were left very shaken by the incident.

An 18-year-old man from Shaldon has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Police are investigating and are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone who has information about the incident.

Detective Constable Tim Lavercombe, of Newton Abbot CID, said: “This is a serious, cowardly and desperate act, and detectives are considering all possible lines of enquiry. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or saw a man on a bicycle acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the offence.”
