Residents and councillors in Broadclyst have spoken of their shock after a man was knifed in the back outside a local supermarket.
The 39 year old was taken to hospital after the attack last night - his injury is not said to be life-threatening.
Local councillors say the incident is out of character for Broadclyst and they hope it's an isolated occurrence.
Some people have posted on Facebook expressing concern about police cutbacks.
