Warning signs have been placed near the site on Exmouth beach where a sinkhole appeared on Friday.
The hole at Orcombe Point disappeared over the weekend because of natural tidal movement, but East Devon district council have put up signs to make people aware that it could open up again, and are monitoring the site regularly.
Anyone who sees the hole reappearing should let the council know.
