Devon and Somerset fire brigade are warning residents of the danger of chimney fires as the weather gets colder.
There have already been at least sixteen chimney fires in the area in the past week.
the latest were in Yeoford near Crediton yesterday morning and Harpford near Sidmouth later in the day.
It's thought many people are lighting fires without having their chimneys swept first - which is vital to remove the build-up of soot and other blockages which stop dangerous combustion gases building up.
Houses with thatched roofs are particularly vulnerable to chimney fires as the heat from the chimney can ignite the thatching.
