Police are trying to catch the animal
It was first spotted in Bull Meadow Park near Hotel du Vin at 0845. A vet was called in, just in case the animal needed to be tranquilized.
The latest sightings suggest he has moved towards the Quay.
Officers tweeted at 0900 to say "The stag has most recently been spotted near Trews Weir Suspension Bridge where it jumped into the river near the allotments and swam downstream. The vet has been asked to stand down."
