Stiffer penalties for those caught fly tipping in East Devon are to be introduced.
New powers to crack down on fly tippers will soon come into force in East Devon which will see offenders fined £400.
The rules will help them deal with small, medium and large fly tipping offences by householders or unauthorised man in a van operations.
Those caught will also be charged for clearing up any mess.
Previously, the fine was £80 and officers could also issue a caution or court action, but it's hoped that the new powers will speed up prosecutions.
East Devon deals with around 40 incidents a months costing tax payers around £50,000 a year in clearance costs.
